Pokemon Abilities List (Generations III through V)

Pokémon Abilities List

Abilities have been around since the generation III (Ruby and Sapphire). Unlike Natures, that only adjust stats, pokemon abilities are special attributes that help them in battle. Some abilities act as buffs, increasing or moving a stat, but others can even effect things like weather. Most of them read like the effects of a card in a CCG.

Each Pokemon can have only one ability, but some have the option of two different abilities. Which one the pokemon gets is determined  randomly. There are 233 single-ability pokemon and 260 dual-ability pokemon.

This table spells out the effects of each ability, as well as list the Pokemon that can have them.
