Pokémon Black and White Madness!

Pokémon Black and White is upon us!

Every couple of years Nintendo updates its beloved RPG franchise Pokémon. Black and White is considered the fifth generation in the series, and the latest (and probably last) iteration to be released for the Nintendo DS.

Among the new features this time around is the introduction of 3 on 3 matches, thus complicating combat in fun and exciting ways! Built on the same engine as the previous generation, Black and White looks a lot like Diamond and Pearl, but this new installment is perhaps the most polished yet. There are 153 new pokémon in this generation, bringing the grand total up to a whopping 646 now. C-gear is a new feature, allowing players to upload game data to internet and the player's computer.

It can get pretty confusing keeping track all of the different pokémon types, strengths and weaknesses, evolution levels, etc. Below are some charts and maps to help you stay organized:

Effort Value, or EV for short, is perhaps one of the most complicated aspects of Pokemon of them all. It's a system for determining what stats rise when your pokemon gain levels. Click the above link for a helpful guide!

Seasons are a new mechanic in Black and White. In addition to what time of day you are playing, conditions will be different based on what calendar month it is while you play!

Happy gaming, Pokémon Trainers!
